A weekly status update from everyone’s favourite caffeinated weirdo.
Welcome back to Whatcha Up To! Coffee here, and here’s to the end of another week! Let’s break down what’s been happening:
Whatcha Playin’, Coffee?

Platinumed Final Fantasy VII Remake! I’m gonna miss playing this one, but it’s time to move on to other games now. Definitely gonna replay this sooner rather than later. Might be a yearly thing like how I play Final Fantasy VII haha. I’m taking a break from PS5 games for a bit so I can focus on writing. The juice is flowing, people! Let it flow freely!
Beyond that, I’ve finished Kid Icarus! Thank you, Nintendo Switch Online haha. I got the best ending too. It was a fun title, I won’t lie. It has a steep learning curve and I died a lot in the early phases, but it meshes platforming and dungeon crawling really well. I’m very surprised at it haha. I’ve also finished a Sega Genesis game called Shadow Dancer. It acts as a quasi-sequel to The Revenge of Shinobi. In it, you play as a ninja with a ninja dog (NINJA DOG!) and you have to save civilians in New York City after a ninja cult resurrects a reptile demon. That’s about as 90s as it gets! It’s actually quite fun, but very difficult due to the one-hit-point-per-life system.
I’ve started Wonder Boy in Monster World on my Genesis Mini. It’s a nice and simple ARPG, perfect after those long nights spent in Midgar haha.
Whatcha Writin’, Coffee?

Backlog Busting post number three is ready! Writing these posts has been great as it gives me an opportunity to reflect on the games that I finish. Normally, you beat something and then forget about it. Outta sight, outta mind, am I right? But we rarely go back and think about how we felt about those games. Did you enjoy them? What did you like? What didn’t you like? And if it’s a game outside of your wheelhouse, would you be willing to play more like that? I hope these posts inspire you all to think about games in the same way.
Meanwhile, on the Mobius VII front, it happened. At last! The breakthrough I was looking for in this massive battle I’m writing has finally arrived! It’s been, like, two, almost three months since I was stuck at this point, but now I feel like I can finally move forward. The first half of the story is setting up to be epic so far!
Whatcha Readin’, Coffee?
I’ve finished Star Wars Ronin, A Visions Novel. Overall, a very interesting book that expands upon the short in the Star Wars Visions animated anthology. The Ronin and his crew go through a harrowing journey to Rei’izu after the former recovered a shard of a kyber mirror and literally tore a Star Destroyer apart using the Force. That was a bit ridiculous, but still kinda cool haha. Once there, the plot resolves by introducing the Ronin’s daughter – the true antagonist of the story – who resurrected the dead in order to eliminate the feudal Jedi system. The Traveller was her caretaker until their death and resurrection. She summoned the Ronin there to repair said kyber mirror so that she could begin a brutal campaign against the Jedi and the lords. Knowing that would lead to an endless cycle of violence, the Ronin learns from his mistakes and takes his daughter under his wing, honoring his lover’s last words.
How’s Trainin’, Coffee?
The kettlebell is getting its work in! Kettlebell full body workouts followed by calisthenics on the off days. Feels good to get back into the routine.
That’s it for this week. Anything new on your end? Let me know below. Otherwise, I’ll talk to you next week!
