A weekly status update from everyone’s favourite caffeinated weirdo.
Welcome back to Whatcha Up To! It’s Coffee, and here’s to the end of another week! Let’s break down what’s been happening this time around:
Whatcha Playin’, Coffee?
I’ve finished Hard Mode on Final Fantasy VII Remake! While it looked like a slog at first, I found that Hard Mode was more an exercise on both Materia and equipment management, and strategy than anything else. The execution of both loadouts and strats became the fun part. I was decimating whatever stood in my way! Heck, for future playthroughs, I might just play on Hard Mode exclusively, it’s so much fun! I’m now trophy hunting because I might as well just get the platinum at this point!

Getting the trophy for the Bike Minigame was easier to accomplish by setting the difficulty to Easy. Next on the list is getting all Enemy Skills (Only 4 in Remake) and the last set of dresses for the dress trophy. After that, I just gotta get one last manuscript and that’s the Platinum! It’s extremely rare for me to hunt trophies and achievements like this. I only do this for games I truly enjoy and Final Fantasy VII Remake is definitely one of those.
Other than that, nothing new on the backlog front. I had a health scare this week, so it cut into my backlog gaming endeavors. I took my mini-emulator to the emerg and distracted myself by playing some OG Final Fantasy VII. Can you tell that I love that game? The weekend ahead looks promising to start knocking off more games on the backlog. It’ll be Kid Icarus, Wonder Boy in Monster World and River City Ransom for upcoming games.
Whatcha Writin’, Coffee?
Second Backlog Busting post is ready to go! I’m pretty happy about the response to the first one, I may be onto something here? Next up will be a quick Double Dragon post, followed by the beast that is Final Fantasy VII Remake. I plan on writing a critique for that title as well. Stay tuned!
I made a little bit more progress on the Mobius VII front. The aforementioned health scare put things into perspective for me, so I will be pushing to write more. I want to finish this series, but I should also remember to take my time. Little by little, it will all get done.
Whatcha Readin’, Coffee?
Continuing with Star Wars Ronin, A Visions Novel. I’m about halfway done. The story is like an onion. As I peel back the layers, I reveal the complexities of The Ronin and the various characters that surround him. The Ronin himself was part of the Sith, until he betrayed them and sent himself into exile. The Bandit – Kouru – watched as The Ronin killed her fellow Sith. In her anger and rage, she travelled around the Outer Rim until she met her demise by The Ronin’s hand and was resurrected. The Traveller, A.K.A Fox, was once a powerful Jedi trainee – a retainer to a high ranking Jedi Knight. Their motives for his quest have still not been revealed at this point. It’s interesting to see how these characters deal with their internal struggles. At the same time, they are fighting for their lives on a quest to reclaim the planet Rei’izu from the witch, whose identity is still unknown at this point.
How’s Trainin’, Coffee?
Another off week for me, surprise, surprise. Workouts come in fits and spurts, but at least I’m doing something. More calisthenics and walking than anything else. I get the feeling that March will be the month where the hard training happens.
That’s it for this week. Anything new on your end? Let me know below. Otherwise, I’ll talk to you next week!

What an action-packed week you’ve had, Coffee! It’s truly inspiring how you’ve tackled Final Fantasy VII Remake’s Hard Mode with such enthusiasm and strategic finesse. Your dedication to trophy hunting speaks volumes about your love for the game, which is heartwarming to see. Also, it’s commendable how you’re managing your health alongside your gaming passions. Your resilience in facing challenges, both in-game and in life, is admirable.
I’m curious about your Backlog Busting project. Given the positive response to your first post, what kind of games or themes are you considering exploring next in this series?
